June: The start of my progress recording

Hello! welcome to my first post, this site will just be me doing an art summary each month with occasional tutorials thank you for looking!

First, I had to make some cat drawings to cover some money I owed someone, so I made a batch for a gacha of 7 kitties and I was able to cover some stuff. I really enjoy making these little doodles, I still want to figure out a style that is good for me and is cute!

For non-doodle stuff/ attempt to learn rendering, I really love using off-whites in my drawings. They aren’t pure white, but they add a nice tone to my colors, almost like adding a filter. It helps give a unique touch to my drawings. Initially, they may look odd, but once you add other colors, it comes together because of color theory. While I’m still trying to understand it, I’ve been learning some new ways to color and shade.

Here are some tips I’ve picked up:

– Consistency with using one shade of white

– Practice is key for drawing hands

– Pinterest is amazing for finding references

– Don’t be afraid to try new things. It’s really helped me improve a lot.

I’ve also been experimenting with tweening using Live2D. Tweening is a type of animation that makes it look smoother. I’ve figured out how to make things even more bouncy, but I’m having trouble with changing the image to another and the different layers are pretty time consuming. I’ll keep trying to figure it out.

I’m also participating in an event called Art Fight, which happens every July. It’s when artists create drawings for each other for points while divided into two teams.  Well, this is the start to Artfight, my goal is to develop a stable workflow to be able to work faster on art! So, I don’t spend many hours, for example two hours on a rendered headshot/bust instead of 4. I hope I don’t lose motivation on it but I also might not have time since I do need to study over break and cannot just draw the whole time.
